Occasion
Team building event for store staff
Goals
-
Team building: strengthen cohesion and team spirit among the 30 participants (all young and active on average)
-
Consistent experience: offer a day of outdoor activities that reflect Decathlon's core business (sports, nature, and physical activity)
-
Novelty and immersion: give local employees an unusual and memorable experience, taking advantage of the unique environment of Mount Etna
Our approach to the event
We designed an outdoor team-building activity with a culinary focus, combining hiking and orienteering with the added incentive of lunch together. This approach allowed us to align Decathlon's sporting values with a practical and rewarding cooperative experience.
Description
We organized an orienteering and team building activity on Mount Etna for 30 participants. The activity saw the teams engaged in a real treasure hunt in the mountains.
Each checkpoint not only involved reaching a point on the map, but also collecting essential items for lunch.
The materials found (e.g., fire-starting tools, fresh local ingredients, or cooking accessories) were then used by the participants to prepare and organize their final BBQ lunch.
This format transformed orienteering from a simple physical exercise into a problem-solving and cooperative activity essential to the success of the final meal, ending the day with a convivial and rewarding moment at the foot of the volcano.
